A group of community people clean up the river on Earth Day

The lake areas, Team Green, is preparing for a special clean-up.  Saturday, March 12, 2016 the City of Lake Charles and Keep Greater Lake Charles Beautiful will hold its semi-annual Adopt-A-Spot Pick Up Day, beginning at 8 a.m. until each area is clean. Team Green, is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and Keep Louisiana Beautiful and can always use volunteers to help with this ongoing effort, Volunteers are also provided with garbage bags and safety vests.

 
The Adopt-A-Spot initiative is a citywide program, in which area residents, neighborhood groups, civic organizations and businesses can take on an active role in cleaning, area communities, shorelines, storm drains and public spaces to greening and beautifying parks in and around our city. Since the start of Pick Up Days, area volunteers have adopted more than fifty sites around Lake Charles.
Lake Charles Mayor Randy Roach said of the event,
“With the help of these community volunteers, we can clean up the entire city twice a year in one morning.  When you see a volunteer on the side of the road picking up their ‘spot,’ it reminds us of our shared responsibility to take care of our city and to help keep it clean.”
 
Throughout the city signs have been installed to represent the locations various volunteer group’s have adopted to clean up.
