The Coushatta Powwow Is This Weekend To Kinder, Louisiana
One of the most unique things you will ever see is coming back to Kinder, Louisiana this weekend, June 7th and 8th, 2024 at Coushatta Casino Resort. Make plans to head out to Kinder, Louisiana, and attend the annual Coushatta Powwow. It is a family-friendly event full of live action, culture, and heritage.
According to the Coushatta website,
The Coushatta Powwow is one of the largest in North America and is truly a one-of-a-kind experience.
This is a family-friendly event offering a look at the fascinating culture and heritage of Native Americans.
We interviewed the folks from Coushatta yesterday and they said that there will be Native American dance teams from across the country descending on Kinder for this two-day event. It will also include over 70 vendors with handcrafted one-of-a-kind Native American items.
The schedule of events for both days is as follows.
Friday, June 7th
- 5:00 pm -- Gourd Dance
- 7:00 pm-- Grand Entry
Saturday, June 8th
- 10:00 am --- Gourd Dance
- 12:00 pm ----Grand Entry
- 5:00 pm ---- Gourd Dance
- 7:00 pm ----- Grand Entry
Admission is $8 per day and Children 6 years and under are admitted free. You can pay at the gate on the day of the event for the 27th annual Coushatta Powwow located at the pavilion and it is open to the public. Children 16 years and younger will need to be accompanied by a parent.
If you have never been to this, you need to go. It is something to behold in person. Your kids would especially love this as they will see the fascinating culture and heritage of Native Americans. It is a very educational event. Check out their website for all the information.
