The Calcasieu Parish School Board has made a hard decision to close down the meal sites at parish schools in lieu of the recent stay-at-home order made by Governor John Bell Edwards.

The school board stressed that the decision was not based on whether feeding children is a priority. They agree it is of the utmost importance but they have to think about the safety of the volunteers and the school nutrition program staff.

If this decision changes and they are able to reopen the school meal sites, they will provide that information to the public and we'll let you know.

If you need assistance with meals and groceries, you can apply for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) here.
