Tuesday, Jan. 16th Closures In Lake Charles And SWLA
It is really cold in Southwest Louisiana and with rain, sleet, and ice coming in late last night, it looks like it was the right call to close most of the services and schools in Southwest Louisiana.
In case you missed it, here are the services and schools that are closed today due to the inclement weather we are going through.
Per the Louisiana State Police Troop D
The following roadways will remain closed until further notice;
• I-210 Bridge - Both East and westbound lanes of travel.
All schools in the Southwest Louisiana area are closed today, Tuesday, January 16th, 2024 including:
- Allen Parish: Closed Tuesday.
- Beauregard Parish: Closed Tuesday. Plans are to reopen Wednesday.
- Calcasieu Parish: Closed Tuesday.
- Cameron Parish: Closed Tuesday.
- Southwest Louisiana Charter Schools: Closed Tuesday.
Due to the inclement weather, all Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office non-essential offices will be closed today, January 16th.
According to City Administrator John Cardone, all City of Lake Charles administrative offices and services, including City Hall, will be closed during regular business hours today. The City services are scheduled to resume on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
All Calcasieu Parish Police Jury offices will be closed today and also the Calcasieu Public Transit System will not be in service today either.
A decision on whether schools will open up on Wednesday, January 17th will be made sometime today after they can evaluate the weather and talk with weather officials.
Remember, even though the rain has passed, some roads especially bridges and overpasses may still be holding ice on the roadways so if you have to be on the road use caution. If you don't have to be on the roads, don't! Yu should wait for officials to give us the all-clear to travel around the area.
Be safe and we will keep you updated all day long here.
