Lake Charles, La [KNGT-FM] - For anyone who drove into downtown Lake Charles over the last few years, the Capital One Tower was impossible to miss. Once a familiar part of the skyline, the building stood boarded up and silent after Hurricane Laura slammed Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana in 2020.

The powerful storm left the tower badly damaged, and from that point on, it remained empty, a constant reminder of the hurricane’s impact on the city. For years, the tower sat unused, towering over downtown as time passed.

Then, on September 7, 2024, residents watched as the long-abandoned structure was finally demolished. With its fall, the Lake Charles skyline changed forever, marking the end of an era for one of the city’s most recognizable buildings.

The Capital One Tower wasn’t just tall, it was massive. The building contained roughly 400,000 square feet of office space and covered about four acres of land. That footprint even included an attached parking garage, making it a major presence in the heart of downtown. Many people never realized just how large the structure truly was or how much activity it once held.

Before demolition, curiosity grew about what the inside of the tower looked like in 2024 after sitting empty for so long. A rare video surfaced that appears to show a drone flying through an open or broken window near the base of the building.

Inside, the footage reveals the first two floors, including the lobby area where escalators once carried workers and visitors. Instead of bustling offices, the video shows emptiness and decay, offering one final glimpse inside the Capital One Tower before it disappeared for good. Check this out.
