The LSU Tigers may just be the hottest team in the entire country right now. After starting conference play 3-12, the Tigers have completely turned the season around and are playing their best baseball of the season. That includes Sulphur native Jake Brown who hit a home run Thursday Night and got to jump on the ESPN set with the SEC Network crew after the game.

LSU grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when second baseman Steven Milam produced an RBI single. The Gamecocks then erupted for five runs in the third as first baseman Ethan Petry provided a run-scoring double and catcher Cole Messina blasted a grand slam, his 20th home run of the season.

LSU responded in the top of the fourth with four runs, as designated hitter Hayden Travinski lined an RBI double, Milam smacked another run-scoring single and centerfielder Jake Brown launched a two-run homer, his third dinger of the season.

That home run for the former Sulphur Tor star was his second of the season at LSU but was no doubt the biggest swing of his young life. Jake got down in the count after failing to lay down back-to-back bunt attempts and then smashed a 2-run homer to tie the game after the Tigers got down by 4.

LSU Trailed twice in the contest but were able to erase both deficits and come back to beat the South Carolina Gamecocks and advance to the semifinals of the SEC Tournament on Saturday at noon.
