In 2020, spring sports may have been canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic but that hasn't stopped the McNeese Athletic Department and the McNeese baseball program from making improvements to the baseball field.

The season was cut short this year due to the pandemic, as the Cowboys baseball team played their last game against the Ragin' Cajuns of Lafayette on March 7. After that game, the season was canceled due to COVID-19.

The Cowboys finished the shortened season at a mark of ten wins versus seven losses.

There are going to be some major improvements to the new baseball field. First, the outfield is about to be outfitted it with a brand new artificial turf. The Pokes will also be getting a new infield, which will be put in to give McNeese a new full field turf. They are also going to put in a new drainage system so the field will be game ready.

The ball field will also be outfitted with a new tailgating area as well as a new club area called the Dugout Club Pavilion. McNeese Baseball Head Coach Justin Hill and the McNeese Athletic Department shot a video hosted by Hill, detailing the improvements being done to the park. Check it out.

It looks like the field is going to be top notch. Let's hope things get back to normal before the 2021 baseball season comes so fans and the baseball team will be able to enjoy and play on the new field next spring.
