Why You Should Think Twice Before Buying These 7 Chocolate Brands
Would you believe that bad chocolate actually exists? I certainly didn’t think it was possible, chocolate is chocolate, right? Even if it's not great, it still feels like a treat. But a recent analysis says otherwise, revealing that not all chocolate is created equal. In fact, some brands are better off avoided this holiday season. A list of the worst chocolate brands just came out, courtesy of 24/7 Wall St., and it’s eye-opening.
As someone who’s loved chocolate my entire life, I’ve always considered myself a fan of pretty much any candy. But a recent study reveals that not all chocolate is as sweet as it seems. Apparently, bad chocolate is lurking in places we might least expect.
Here’s the list of the worst chocolate brands in America:
#7 - Lindt
#6 - Ferrero
#5 - Godiva
#4 - Mondelez
#3 - Hershey
#2 – Nestlé
#1 – Mars
So, why are these brands considered the worst? According to 24/7 Wall St., despite making promises to improve their chocolate production, these companies have failed to follow through. A CBS investigation in 2023 exposed how young children were working in dangerous, even deadly conditions in some of these companies' supply chains.
With this troubling news in mind, I’ve decided to take a break from mass-produced chocolate. Instead, I’m planning to support local chocolatiers, ensuring I’m getting a higher-quality product. Plus, it’s the perfect excuse to treat yourself or buy something special for those on your Christmas shopping list this year.
