LAKE CHARLES, La.— Installation of a new marquee on the lakefront is scheduled in the coming days and residents will soon see a name change for the venue historically known as the Lake Charles Civic Center.

The renaming of the property to the Lake Charles Event Center will open the site up to a new, broader scope of event bookings.

Multiple agencies heavily involved with booking national-caliber acts and performances suggested this name change to the City. This name change will further enhance the ability to attract more well-known and diverse concerts and events. The recently-announced Parker McCollum concert has resulted in some of the highest ticket sales in the location’s recent history and negotiations for additional major acts are currently underway. Several additional exciting announcements are expected in the coming weeks.

The long-standing marquee was originally constructed in 1971. Hurricanes Laura and Delta in 2020 caused significant damage to the sign, making it eligible for replacement through FEMA.
