We have some news to share if you live in Lake Charles. If you live in Lake Charles and your trash gets picked up on Fridays, your trash will not be picked up this Friday, November 10th.

We know you are wondering why because usually your trash pickup gets interrupted during holidays but you may have forgotten that this Saturday, November 11th, 2023 is Veteran's Day. Since the holiday is on a Saturday this year, the holiday will be recognized and observed on Friday, November 10th.

Such is the case with the City Of Lake Charles. Katie Harrington with the city of Lake Charles explains by saying,

The City of Lake Charles will observe Veterans Day on Friday, November 10, 2023. There will not be any trash or garbage picked up on Friday, November 10, 2023.  

Changes in trash and garbage pickup are as follows:

Trash and garbage normally picked up on Friday will be rescheduled for pickup on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

All Recycling stations, including the Team Green recycling truck and the Incinerator will be closed on Friday, November 10, 2023. They will resume regular operations on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

All other services of the Department of Public Works and other City Departments, including Lake Charles City Hall will be closed on Friday, November 10, and will resume regular hours of operation on Monday, November 13.

As a reminder, you should place your trash can out by 7:00 a.m. the day your trash gets picked up and retrieve it by 7:00 p.m. that night. So make a note about this Friday so you don't miss getting your trash picked up.
