Things Louisiana Cajun Couples Give Each Other For Anniversary Gifts

If you are from Louisiana and know someone who is Cajun, then you know that Cajuns are fun-loving people who usually have one of the greatest sense of humor. They love to have fun, playing jokes on people while being loyal to their family and friends.

Cajuns are also known for having very large families with a ton of children and are very giving to their families. Now with that being said, let's have a laugh or two.

This post is not meant to be serious but something to make you laugh today. As a Cajun myself, I have seen some of these that I am about to list given in my family. We started thinking about things that a Cajun would give to their spouse or significant other for an anniversary.

We are already known for our off-the-wall sense of humor but there are some things that Cajuns would consider important and a great gift that most people not of that culture would find weird.

For instance, most people will give flowers, jewelry, trips, go out to dinner, and other things for an anniversary gift. Cajuns do the same, well sort of, in our way.

So let's break it down by years. Here is a list of things Louisiana Cajuns would give to each other for those milestone anniversaries.

First Anniversary -- This is the whew we made it a year anniversary so a pound of Boudin and One Magnolia flower is in order.

Fifth Anniversary -- This is the hunting anniversary so here comes some new camouflage shirts and a can of OFF bug spray

Tenth Anniversary -- This is the aluminum anniversary so you should receive a new aluminum boat, A new fishing pole, and a mounted Bass you caught when you met.

Fifteenth Anniversary -- This is the Cast Iron anniversary. This is where you give the cooker in the family a new cast iron pot to cook in. This is a very important gift because it becomes a family heirloom that will now be passed on for generations.

Twentieth Anniversary -- This is the getaway anniversary. This is where you take your spouse on a trip. Fill up the truck, get your tickets to see Wayne Toups, and go camping at the festival campground.

Twenty-fifth Anniversary -- This is the Silver anniversary so get ready to get a set of Magnalite pots and a silver SUV with a plate that says Maw Maw because by now you have a gaggle of grandkids.

For the next 25 years, you are just motoring through life hoping to get to your 50th anniversary.

Fiftieth Anniversary -- This is the Sha we made it anniversary. This is where you both go pick out a plot of land at a cemetery to give to each other, 50 pounds of crawfish, a $50 gift certificate to go make groceries, and $50 worth of Schlitz, Busch, PBR, Old Milwaukee Best or any other crusty beer you have been drinking for the past 50 years.
