2026 LSU Football Schedule Announced, McNeese Game Back
Lake Charles, La [KNGT-FM] - A new era of LSU football will begin in 2026 with the hiring of a new university president and a new football coach. Last month, we learned that Dr. Wade Rouse had been hired as the new LSU president. Rouse has ties to Southwest Louisiana, as he served as president of McNeese State University for a few years before heading to Baton Rouge.
Then last week, the news broke that Lane Kiffin would be leaving his successful program at Ole Miss to take the head coaching job at LSU, replacing Brian Kelly, who was fired in midseason this year. Kiffin will have a big task at hand in his first year after seeing the 2026 football schedule that was just released.

LSU’s home schedule is packed with marquee opponents, as several powerhouse teams head to Death Valley to face the Tigers. The home schedule for the Tigers in 2026 includes games against SEC opponents Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, and Mississippi State.
LSU will also host non-conference matchups against Clemson, Louisiana Tech, and McNeese, the former university of LSU’s president. The LSU–McNeese game is set for Saturday, October 3, 2026, and it’s sure to feel personal for President Rouse and Cowboys fans back in Lake Charles.
LSU will hit the road in 2026 and take on new head coach Lane Kiffin's old team, Ole Miss, in Oxford on Saturday, September 19th, which should be interesting to see the reception he will get when he returns on the opposite sideline. The Tigers will also face Kentucky, Auburn, Tennessee, and Arkansas on the road in 2026.
