Beautiful, Much Cooler Weather This Week In Louisiana

If you’ve been waiting for a break from the heat, this is the week you’ve been hoping for! A cool front is finally going to sweep through Louisiana, bringing much cooler and drier air. We got a little bit of a tease last week, but after weeks of muggy conditions, we can enjoy crisp mornings and pleasant afternoons.

This refreshing weather comes thanks to a strong cold front that pushed southward over the weekend. Behind it, winds from the north are bringing in cooler and drier air. This type of weather is typical for November and gives us a taste of fall before the winter chill settles in.

If you remember a few months ago, we reported what the Farmer's Almanac had predicted for Louisiana's 24-25 winter. Here's what it said....

According to the 2024 Farmer’s Almanac, Louisiana is looking at a mild and wet winter. That means you probably won’t need your thickest coats every day, but you might want to keep your rain boots handy. The almanac predicts average to below-average precipitation across much of the state, so expect some rainy days and possibly even a bit of wet snow in December.

While the winter season officially begins with the winter solstice on December 21, Louisiana’s first frost might show up as early as November. Temperatures are expected to stay warmer than normal throughout the season, with a few colder snaps in early and late November, as well as toward the end of January and February.

This week’s temperatures are a welcome change, with highs in the 60s and 70s across most of the state. Evenings will dip into the 40s and 50s, so you might want to grab a light jacket if you’re heading out. It’s the perfect time to enjoy outdoor activities like football games, festivals, or just a relaxing evening on the porch.
