Best Cracklins in Calcasieu Parish: SWLA Local Picks
🐊 KNGT 🐊 | Louisiana — If you grew up around Calcasieu Parish like I did, you already know… cracklins ain’t just something you eat. That’s part of who we are.
So I decided to start something new. I’m going on a mission to find the best cracklins in Southwest Louisiana. And there was only one place to start… right here at home.
This is the Calcasieu Parish edition.
Now let me say this before we go any further… I don’t have a winner. Not doing that. I asked y’all where to go, I listened, and I showed up hungry. And I’m telling you right now, every single place on this list brought the heat.
Where to get Cracklins in Calcasieu Parish
We’re gonna start in my hometown of Sulphur.
First stop was B&O's Kitchen & Grocery. If you’re from around here, you already know the deal. These cracklins taste like home. Good crunch on the outside, soft in the middle, and seasoned just right. You grab a bag thinking you’ll snack on it later… yeah, that bag don’t make it out the parking lot.
Then I rolled over to Lake Charles and hit up Famous Foods. Soon as you walk in, that smell hits you. You know you’re in the right place. Their cracklins got a little kick to ‘em. Not too much, just enough to wake you up. Fresh, hot, and full of flavor.
Next up, I had to check out In-Laws, Iowa and Moss Bluff. When a place has two locations, you already know they’re doing something right. These had that deep Cajun flavor. Good seasoning, strong crunch, and consistent every bite. Solid all the way through.
Last stop on this run was Hebert's Specialty Meats in Lake Charles. I’m gonna be honest… these right here caught me off guard in a good way. Bigger pieces, real good texture, and packed with flavor. You can tell they’ve been doing this a long time.
So here’s the bottom line…
There’s no loser on this list. Not one. Every spot came highly recommended by y’all, and every one of them delivered. Different styles, different flavors, but all of them flat out good.
And don’t worry if your favorite spot didn’t make it this time. This is just the beginning. I’m heading to Jeff Davis Parish next, then making my way over into Acadiana. We’re gonna keep this thing rolling and see who else got something to say in the cracklin game.
But for now, right here in Calcasieu Parish… these are the ones.
