Lafayette Buc-ee’s Will Break Ground November 9

Lafayette, Louisiana - It looks like the wait for a Buc-ee's in South Louisiana is getting closer to becoming a reality. Everyone's favorite gas station, Buc-ee's, has announced the date for the official groundbreaking ceremony for its new Lafayette travel center.

Here in Southwest Louisiana, we're going to be pretty lucky. Whichever way you're going to be traveling on I-10, you're bound to run into a Buc-ee's, whether you're headed to Baytown or to Lafayette. The good news is, the trip to Lafayette is a bit shorter, so it won't be long and we'll all be able to grab our favorite snacks right down the road.

Lafayette Would Get Louisiana's Second Buc-ee's

When it opens, the Lafayette location would be the second Buc-ee's in Louisiana. Another location is currently being built in Ruston along the I-20 corridor. That store is expected to open before the Lafayette location.

Where Will The Lafayette Buc-ee's Be Located?

The new Buc-ee's will be built at the northeast corner of Louisiana Avenue and Interstate 10 in Lafayette. Buc-ee's founder and CEO Arch "Beaver" Aplin is expected to be there, along with local and state officials. For those who have been around the area, there has already been plenty of work behind the scenes, but the groundbreaking will mark the official start of construction.

The Lafayette Buc-ee's is expected to be a massive project. The location will cover about 74,000 square feet and is valued at roughly $72 million. The new location will also have 120 gas pumps and nearly 700 parking spaces.

One of the main topics when the store location was announced was the traffic impact around the area, but the plans also call for improvements to Louisiana Avenue to help handle the extra traffic expected once the travel center opens. There is still no official opening date. However, reports indicate the project could be finished in early 2028.
