Concerts, Sports, And Events Going On In Lake Charles & SWLA This Weekend

The week started pretty stressful here in Southwest Louisiana as everyone had their eyes on the gulf to see what the storm would do. Thankfully, Southwest Louisiana didn't have to go through another hurricane.

Now that that is over with and we are in the clear, we all need a day or night to let our hair down and go do something fun. There are a bunch of things going on in the lake area this weekend including concerts, sporting events, and live music. Here's what's going on in the lake area this weekend.

The Cowboy Block party is Friday night at the Grove on the corner of McNeese and Common Streets in Lake Charles. The concert is free and open to all ages. You can bring your ice chests with what you want to drink, and your lawn chairs, and there will be food trucks on site too. New Orleans party band, The Bag Of Donuts will be performing live Friday night. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the concert starts at 7:30 pm.

Dwight Yoakam will be live at the Golden Nugget's Grand Event Center in Lake Charles on Saturday night. The country icon will take the stage at 8:00 pm that night singing all of your favorite hits.

The McNeese Cowboys football team will host Stephen F. Austin on Saturday night here in Lake Charles. Kickoff from Cowboy's Stadium will be at 7:00 pm.

The  Lake Charles Event Center is hosting Skatember Frightful Friday & Family Night Friday night. The event is from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm and Admission is $5 to skate and children 16 and under must have an adult present. Remember that skates are not provided and only non-motorized roller and inline skates will be permitted on the floor.

Comedian Rodney Carrington will be live at L'Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles on Saturday night. Rodney will hit the stage at 8:00 pm that night.
