Desserts using Girl Scout Cookies?
They're at everyone grocery store, every bank, every school, every-where, and there is even an APP! Girl Scout Cookie season is upon us, and there is nothing we can do to fight the urge for those Thin Mints. Sure, you can make the joke that they "won't make you thin". You make the transaction as you look over your shoulder, hoping your Zumba instructor isn't walking up behind you. As you shamefully load the trunk of your car with the 3rd case for the week, you look around as if the police are going to arrest you for your sinful addiction. The 5 gallons of milk you bought are warming up in the car as you rush home to your stretchy pants waiting for you like a mistress in flannel.
Sure, you could eat each box as you tell yourself "this is the last one, I promise", but you know it wont be. How about a better idea? A little less guilt, but you'll still be utilizing the little products of the "Devils Bakery".
1. Tag Along Milkshake - Grab your favorite ice cream, a blender, hot fudge, and some Tagalongs. You can fill in the blanks. Combine, blend, enjoy knowing you didn't eat the whole box. You ate half a box, plus ice cream, and fudge. That has to be more healthy, right?
2. Thin Mint S'mores - Substitute those 2 year old graham crackers you swore you'd use for that cheesecake 2 Christmases ago and use Thin Mints in their place. Bonus! Minty fresh chocolaty breath!
3. Lemonades Parfait - Crunch up those rare Lemonade cookies and layer them in between whipped-cream, strawberry, and blueberry filling. You'll be the talk of the neighborhood watch meeting as people complain about the 3 kids that knock over trashcans. They certainly won't be complaining about your dessert.
4. Shortbread Sunday - This one doesn't take much skill. As a matter of fact, you can use any cookie for this one. Just scoop your favorite ice cream in a bowl, add toppings of your choice, and slide in some cookies. Channel your inner Sonic Carhop and go crazy!
These are just a few options to take a little bit of guilt out of eating that entire box while watching a few episodes of Grey's Anatomy. Explore your options. Embrace Cookie Season, it's for a great cause. Support the Girl Scouts of America! If you can't find them, don't worry, they'll find you.
