Four Louisiana Areas Named ‘Least Educated’ In Nation
Wallethub recently compared the 150 most populated metropolitan areas using nine different metrics to determine the Most and Least Educated areas in the nation. Four Louisiana areas made the list, all of which we ranked in the bottom half.
According to the website's study, the most educated area in the country is Ann Arbor, Michigan, while the least educated is McAllen-Edinburd-Mission, Texas. Of the ten Texas areas on the list, only two are in the upper half (Austin-Round Rock and Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington), while the remaining eight fall into the least educated areas.
The list's most educated area in Louisiana is New Orleans-Metarie, which is ranked 86 out of 150. Baton Rouge comes in next at 103, with Shreveport-Bossier City taking the 128th spot.
Lafayette comes in last for Louisiana, where according to Wallethub, it's not only the least educated area in the state, but one of the 10 least educated areas in the nation. It comes in at 142nd place out of the 150 areas, making it slightly worse than the Southeast Texas area of Beaumont-Port Arthur, which is just ahead of Lafayette in the 141st position.
Additionally, Beaumont-Port Arthur has one of the lowest percentages of graduate or professional degree holders in the country, while Lafayette has one of the lowest percentages of associate's degree holders or adults with any college experience at all.
What a time to be alive!
