KNGT | Louisiana — Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and I ain't gonna lie, I might enjoy it just as much as the kids do. I love dressing up, decorating, and especially carving pumpkins. But this year, I got to thinking. I'm tired of carving the same old triangle eyes and crooked smile. So I started searching the internet for some new ideas, and y'all, I hit the pumpkin jackpot. I found a website with nearly 1,000 FREE pumpkin carving patterns!

Now, if you're anything like me, carving pumpkins is just part of Halloween. You spread some newspaper across the table, grab a knife, and start digging all that nasty stuff out of the middle. And somehow, no matter how careful you are, those pumpkin guts end up everywhere. But that's half the fun.

I remember when carving a pumpkin meant cutting out two triangle eyes, a triangle nose, and a mouth with a couple of teeth. If you were feeling really fancy, you might throw in some eyebrows. Well, folks, pumpkin carving has come a LONG way.

Nearly 1,000 Free Pumpkin Carving Patterns

The website I found is called The Pumpkin Lady, and I'm telling y'all, I spent way more time looking through these patterns than I planned. They've got nearly 1,000 different pumpkin carving designs, and the best part is they're FREE! This website has actually been around since 1998. That's 28 years of helping folks turn regular pumpkins into some pretty cool Halloween decorations.

The patterns are created by a lady named Lisa B., who runs the website with Jack out of their home studio in Clifton Forge, Virginia. And these ain't just your regular jack-o'-lantern faces.

They've got 16 different categories of designs. You can find ghosts, witches, scary skulls, famous faces, animals, dogs, and even some really cool nature designs. There's a whole section for classic jack-o'-lantern faces if you wanna keep things old school. They've even got patterns for special occasions and Christmas! I'm sitting here thinking I might need to buy about 15 pumpkins this year.

Something for Everybody in the Family

One thing I really like about this website is that you don't have to be some kind of professional pumpkin carver to use it. Some patterns are pretty simple, while others look like you might need a steady hand, a whole lotta patience, and maybe a prayer or two. I can already see families across Southwest Louisiana sitting around the kitchen table picking out their designs. The kids want something spooky. Mom wants something cute. Dad thinks he's gonna carve some fancy celebrity face. Three hours later, Dad's pumpkin looks like it got run over by a lawn mower. We've all been there. And if you're competitive like me, you already know you're gonna try to make yours look better than everybody else's.

Where to Find the Free Halloween Pumpkin Patterns

If you're planning on carving pumpkins this Halloween, you really need to check this website out. You can browse all the different categories, find a pattern you like, and print it out to help with your carving.

I'm already trying to decide which one I'm gonna attempt this year. Knowing me, I'll probably pick something way too complicated, spend half the evening working on it, and then act like I meant for it to look that way. But hey, that's Halloween! And with Halloween coming up here in Southwest Louisiana, now's a pretty good time to start planning those pumpkins.

Just do me one favor. If you carve something really cool this year, take a picture and show me. I wanna see what y'all come up with!
