2019 already has some surprises lined up for you, starting with a spectacular and rare viewing of our closest celestial neighbor - the Moon.  On January the 20th, one of the strangest combinations of lunar cycles will peak in what astronomers call the "Super Blood Wolf Moon Eclipse."

3 different lunar phenomena will converge to bring this unusual trifecta to our night sky.  The "super" moon, the "blood" moon, and the "wolf" moon.  The "super" moon refers to our natural satellite's position relative to the earth - within 90 percent of its closest possible distance.  The "blood" moon occurs when the earth passes between the sun and the moon at just the right angle.  This casts an reddish hue across the moon and makes it look a little bloody.  Finally, the wolf moon is the name for the first full moon of the year.  Roll them all together, and you have a "Super Blood Wolf Moon Eclipse."  Also, if you have a band and are searching for a name - you could do a lot worse.
