The Calcasieu Parish School Board Transportation staff is hosting pre-service training and behind-the-wheel training for substitute school bus drivers next month. Completing this course is required for all persons looking to become certified Louisiana substitute school bus drivers.

If this is something that interests you like I am then you can pick up an application at the Calcasieu Parish School Board Central Office located at 3310 Broad street during the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. There is a lunch hour where the offices will be closed from 12-12:45. All classes will be held at Central Office in the Transportation Training Room. There will also be hands-on training where attendees can learn how to inspect a bus before a route. You are asked to make sure to wear comfortable clothing for the classes.

Here is the schedule below for classes and dates that they will offer

October 4-7 5 p.m- 9 p.m

October 9 (Saturday) 8 a.m-4 p.m.

October 11-14 5 p.m.- 9 p.m.

There has always been intrigued with me when it comes to bus driving. As a child, we all would see the bus driving through the neighborhood and wondered what it would be like to drive one of those days. So if this is you, you may want to take up one of those classes and become a substitute bus driver.
