With rising hospitalizations across the state from COVID-19, could Louisiana be in store for another mandated lockdown?

Reuters is reporting that the number of COVID-19 cases in America has almost doubled in the past ten days. So the question is now being asked if there should be another federally mandated lockdown to slow the infection rate in the U.S.A.

The Delta variant is also currently hitting hard Asia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Australia and France are now using their militaries to check people's vaccination records to approve travel in their respective countries.

The top federal infectious disease expert. Dr. Anthony Fauci, has spoken on whether he believes another federally mandated lockdown is necessary to slow the transmition of COVID-19 in America.

Dr. Fauci was a guest on ABC's This Week on Sunday and he said that he believes it's going to get worse before it gets better:

We're looking, not, I believe, to lockdown, but we're looking to some pain and suffering in the future because we're seeing the cases go up, which is the reason why we keep saying over and over again, the solution to this is get vaccinated and this would not be happening.

When asked if he believes if enough Americans have been vaccinated to slow the pandemic, Fauci said:

Not enough to crush the outbreak, but I believe enough to not allow us to get into the situation we were in last winter.

With the news coming from today's COVID-19 press conference from Govenror John Bel Edwards reinstating the mandatory mask mandate, it looks like if their is an eventual lockdown it won't be from the federal government but possibly on the state level with the Louisiana government.
