A Texas Buc-ee’s Kicked Out A Couple For A Ridiculous Reason

A couple who were recently kicked out of a Texas Buc-ee's location are now challenging the gas station chain's long-standing policy.

A husband and wife, from Liberty City, Ohio, were enjoying their first time visiting a Buc-ee's when staff totally ruined their experience and asked them to leave immediately.

Dawn Thompson explained to MySanAntonio.com what happened:

We were seriously just taking in the atmosphere. They approached us and asked my husband if it was his truck. 'You are not allowed to purchase anything here, you have to leave now,' and I was still holding my items that they were telling me I'm not allowed to buy.

Buc-ee's has a long-standing policy that no 18-wheelers are allowed in their parking lots. That's a problem for Dawn and her husband Richard.  They're full-time truckers who sold their house and vehicles when they decided to live on the road in their semi-truck.

They had just finished dropping their trailer off at a company in Houston and decided to drive bobtail (a semi-truck with no trailer) to the Buc-ee's in Baytown, TX.

Once there, after a while of shopping, the couple was escorted out of the store and told they couldn't even buy the items they had in their hands. The Thompsons took to Facebook to air their grievances.

Buc-ee's has signs posted on their property that say in big bold letters "NO 18-WHEELERS", however, my question is how does a bobtail semi-truck qualify as an 18-wheeler?  You have to have a trailer attached to the semi-truck to be an 18-wheeler in my opinion.

Look, I get it, a semi-truck with a trailer will take up tons of room in your customer parking lot, but Dawn brought up a great point in her Facebook post. The length and size of their bobtail semi-truck is no different from the RVs that park in two spaces in the Buc-ee's parking lot everyday across the country. There's even a picture on her Facebook post that shows a huge truck with a gigantic trailer that takes up 5-6 parking spaces.

Here's another great point that she brought up while being interviewed by MySanAntonio.com:

You know, your store has to receive deliveries, and that's one thing that bothers us truckers the most. We're good enough to bring your fuel and products, but we're not good enough to shop in your stores?

Wow, that cuts straight to the point. I agree with Dawn, this policy is absolutely ridiculous. If any corporate suit from Buc-ee's is reading this, please consider changing your policy to allow bobtail semi-trucks to be able to park at your travel centers.  It only makes sense.
