A recent study was aimed at finding that answer and also found out, to no one's surprise, that Americans like shopping at retail stores they feel they can trust.

Recently, we wrote an article on the top 3 most trusted retailers in Texas.

Clarify Capital surveyed over 1,000 Americans about their opinions about different industries and specific brands. They found that 78% voted that the trustworthiness of a business is "very" important to them as consumers.

What makes a business trustworthy?

  • 36% said "delivers on promises" and "asks for honest feedback & reviews"
  • 35% said "pricing transparency"
  • 34% said "builds relationships with customers"
  • 33% said "consistent performance"
  • 31% said "listen to and acts on customer feedback"
  • 30% said "employee training transparency"
  • 29% said "provides behind the scenes info about processes" and "easy to use website"
  • 28% said "pays employees well"

According to the study from Clarify Capital, it was a three-way tie for the least trustworthy retail store in America.
