Throughout the state of Louisiana, the fever has been rising. No, it's not some kind of waterborne swamp fever, it's Powerball fever. And the only cure for that kind of fever from Lafayette to Lake Charles, to Monroe, Ruston, and Shreveport is to cash in a winner. Last night, according to the Louisiana Lottery, several Louisiana Powerball players did just that.

On Monday, April 1, 2024, the multi-state lottery game Powerball held a drawing for an estimated top prize of $1.026 billion. There was no single ticket sold across the game's footprint that matched the numbers needed to claim that incredible prize.

If you didn't see the drawing, here is how it played out Monday night at about 10 p.m. Louisiana time.

The numbers that tumbled from the hopper were:

19   24   40   42   56   Powerball 23   Power Play x2

We suggest you confirm those numbers here, at the Official Powerball site or if you have multiple numbers to check you can do that quite easily at the Louisiana Lottery website too.

As we mentioned, no single ticket matched all of those numbers to claim the jackpot. But, there were several Match 5 millionaires made in last night's game. Those tickets were sold in Florida, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Virginia. The State of Maryland is reporting that two tickets sold in that state earned a Match 5 prize.

The Texas Lottery confirms that four tickets sold in that state earned a prize of $50,000 for matching four of five with the Powerball. Another ticket sold in Texas matched that same pattern but that ticket purchaser opted for the Power Play so the prize is doubled via the x2 function of Power Play.

The Louisiana Lottery is reporting that the largest prize a Louisiana-sold ticket can lay claim to from last night was $200. Nine tickets sold in Louisiana matched the numbers needed to claim a $200 prize. Another 17 tickets from Monday's drawing earned a top prize of $100. It was not the most profitable night for Louisiana Lottery players but then again, the state did get a one million dollar winner over the weekend in the Powerball game.

Tonight's Mega Millions drawing will be held at 10 p.m. Louisiana time. The top prize in that multi-state lottery game is $36 million. Please remember that most lottery ticket purchases do not generate a cash prize. So, be careful in how you choose to spend your money. If you can't afford to lose, then choose not to play.
