
Walmart Announces New Way to Pay: Coming Soon to All Louisiana Locations
(KMDL-FM) Retail giant Walmart has announced a change in how it will accept payment for goods and merchandise at its 88 Louisiana Supercenters and 14 Sam's Club locations across Louisiana. In addition to the ways you are used to paying at Walmart, you may now take advantage of "Tap to Pay" technology.
Walmart announced the policy in a press release on August 21, 2026. The details of the press release suggest that Walmart has been listening to consumer suggestions and complaints about making the checkout process even smoother.
Why are Walmart and Sam's Club Changing The Way We Pay?

The addition of Tap to Pay at Walmart checkouts, according to the press release, is designed to make shopping feel simpler and more seamless. The change will be coming to all Walmart Stores and Sam's Clubs around the country, and no, they won't all be accepting Tap to Pay as of today, but the plan is to expand the option nationwide.

The addition of Tap to Pay at Walmart stores means that consumers may now pay using credit card details stored in their mobile devices. The program will also accept payments from Walmart Cards and Sam's Club Cards stored in a smartphone wallet.
Will Tap to Pay Be Available at Fuel Stations Operated by Walmart and Sam's Club?

Tap to pay will also be available at fuel stations operated by Walmart and Sam's Club. You may also access Walmart+ Savings using the technology. And Sam's Club members will also find that the new technology makes the Scan and Go feature, which allows them to skip the traditional checkout line, even faster and simpler to use.

Tap to Pay should be available at all Walmart Stores and Sam's Club stores by the end of 2026. The company hopes to complete the Tap to Pay addition at all of its fuel stations by mid-2027.
