Lake Charles, La. — According to KPLC, the man who robbed two Lake Charles banks in March and April was shot dead by law enforcement in Llano, Texas on Wednesday.

Jeffrey Gray Wise, 52, of Austin, Texas is accused of robbing Jeff Davis Bank on March 9, and Whitney Bank on April 6. Both banks are located within close proximity to one another on Gerstner Memorial Drive in Lake Charles.

Troopers and deputies reportedly shot Wise Wednesday at approximately 5 p.m., after shots were exchanged. He was pronounced dead at the scene, said Lake Charles Police Chief Don Dixon.

Dixon has a stern message for anyone thinking of committing crimes in Lake Charles,

"You don't come to Lake Charles and rob a bank; you don't come to Lake Charles to commit a murder; you don't come to Lake Charles to do anything. We will hunt you down. That's what we do and we're real good at it."

The robberies are still part of an ongoing investigation by the Lake Charles Police, FBI, and Texas Rangers.
