Lake Charles, Louisiana - If you’re a first responder in Southwest Louisiana, there's a cool event coming up later this month. Faith Bible Church of Lake Charles is teaming up with "With You" to host its First Responder Appreciation Dinner. The event, called “Serving Those Who Serve,” will give local first responders a free jambalaya dinner as a way to say thank you for all they do.

First responders are some of the most important people in our communities. Police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and other emergency workers are there when people need help the most. They often work long hours, face dangerous situations, and put others before themselves. We may not think about them every day, but when an emergency happens, we know we can count on them to answer the call.

All local first responders are invited to stop by and enjoy a freshly prepared jambalaya meal at no cost. The event is open to firefighters, police officers, emergency medical workers, dispatchers, and other first responders who serve the community.

"First responders are often the first to answer the call when our community is in need," said Kerry Leger, the event coordinator. "This event is our way of saying thank you and showing our appreciation for their courage, commitment, and selfless service."

The Most Cajun Things to Throw on the Grill

We like to do things differently in Louisiana, and when it comes to cooking we're no exception. Some folks even like to toss these non-conventional foods on the grill every now and then.
