Lance Guidry Becomes the McNeese Cowboys 15th Head Football Coach
During a press conference yesterday, Lance Guidry was named the McNeese Cowboys head coach in school history while challenging the several hundred in attendance to "Cowboy Up." That brought a rousing cheer from the fans. Guidry is the 15th coach in the school's history.
Guidry is a 1995 graduate of McNeese and replaces Matt Viator. Coach Viator accepted the head coaching position at Louisiana-Monroe earlier this week.
During one of the most memorable seasons for the Pokes, Guidry helped the team win Southland Conference title #14 with a perfect regular season. In his 10 combined years on the McNeese staff, McNeese has compiled an 86-35 record, including a 50-16 mark in Southland Conference games.
