AP Poll Is Out: Where Did LSU Land?

[KNGT-FM]- As we inch closer toward the start of the 2025 college football season, all the preseason polls are coming out. The polls are ranking the top 25 college football teams in the country. The polls give you an idea of what teams experts think are going to be the best in the country this season.

You can't take complete stock in these polls yet for a couple of reasons. The first one is that none of the teams have played their first game yet and will have brand new starters in key positions, so you don't know how good the teams will be. The second reason is that every season, there are always a few teams ranked pretty high that falter at the beginning of the season and drop in the rankings.

For instance, Texas, which landed at the #1 spot in the country in both polls, will face off against Ohio State, which is ranked # 2 in one poll and #3 in another poll. They face off in the first game of the year. So whoever loses that game will already drop in the polls. If the game is one-sided, one team could drop significantly.

The AP top 25 preseason college football poll came out, and LSU has landed inside the Top 10. The Tigers are ranked # 9 in the AP poll. The Tigers got the same ranking in the coaches' poll, which was released last week.

LSU will face off against Clemson in the first game of the season on Saturday, August 30, in South Carolina. The Clemson Tigers were ranked #4 in the AP preseason poll, while last week they were ranked #6 in the coaches' polls.

LSU and Clemson will kick off at 6:30 pm that night, and the game will be televised nationally on ABC.
