Luke Combs recently dug deep into his country roots to deliver a twangy rendition of the Allman Brothers Band's "Ramblin' Man" backstage at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Press play above to watch!

The intimate backstage jam showcases the upper registers of Combs' controlled, rootsy voice. Also in the spotlight is an accompanying mandolin, which punches up the song's melodies a bit while still staying true to the Allman Brothers' original. "Ramblin' Man" first came out in 1973, off of the group's Brothers and Sisters album. It went on to become the band's first and only single to hit the Top 10, ultimately landing at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Combs recently revealed plans for a brand-new EP called The Prequelwhich is due for release on June 7 and will include four new songs in addition to the previously-released "Beer Never Broke My Heart." Meanwhile, the country star is on the road for his 2019 Beer Never Broke My Heart Tour, with recently-added dates spanning through the end of the year.

One of country music's most meteoric rising acts, Combs released five singles off of his first record, This One's for You, and all of them became hits. "Hurricane," "When it Rains it Pours," "One Number Away," "She Got the Best of Me" and "Beautiful Crazy" have all gone on to top Billboard's Country Airplay chart. Judging by the early fan response to "Beer Never Broke My Heart," Combs may soon have another No. 1 song on his hands.
