Man Caught Trying to Steal Python at Pet Store and Stuff it Down His Pants

"Is that a snake in your pants or are you just happy to see us?" That’s not what pet store employees asked a Florida man when they caught him trying to stuff a snake down his pants.

According to WFLA, Travis Treder was caught in the act of stealing a python, and it may not have been the first time he’s stolen from the store. The suspected thief is caught on surveillance video taking the snake from its enclosure and then putting it in his pants, before being confronted by a store employee.

Treder has reportedly been in the store twice before over the past nine months, and they didn’t realize he had stolen anything until after the fact, said store owner Steve Silk. The owner also believes the thief may be selling the reptiles on Craigslist.

The pet store employees zip-tied the suspect and held him until police arrived.
