
Mandatory Evacuations Underway In Vermilion Parish
The sound of an early morning knock on the door by a member of law enforcement. There is no way that will be good news. That is the sound that many residents of Vermilion Parish are waking up to this morning. Members of the Louisiana National Guard and Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Deputies are going door to door in parts of the parish to evacuate residents.
This mandatory evacuation applies to residents of North Gueydan and to those who live in the Simon District east of 91. The evacuation order was place by the Vermilion Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness.
More details on this evacuation and shelter locations will be available through out the morning.
