Were these places built specifically for this reason? The sun only comes through just right on specific dates. Coincidence?

Could all of Manhattan been built just for this brief moment in time? I know there will be those who say yes. They are the ones that believe the moon landing was a hoax, Elvis is alive and 911 was a government conspiracy. The sun also plays similar tricks on rare dates at Stonehenge and the Mayan temple. I do not pretend to make sense of it ... It is just cool.
