Miranda Lambert opened her performance at the 2016 CMAs with a quiet confidence, standing alone in front of a heavy vintage theater-style curtain, looking stunning in a sexy re-imagined version of a sleek black pant suit. With a gorgeous acoustic slung over her shoulder, poised to take on the world, Lambert began her latest single, “Vice,” a capella, showing off her flawless vocals and bringing attention to the well-written lyrics.

The band kicked in after just a few lines, confirming Lambert’s pitch perfectly, and the curtain raised to reveal the rest of the musicians in front of a Victorian-inspired backdrop. Lambert performed the tune with emotional conviction, particularly the bridge, which brought a spotlight on the singer-songwriter and a stripped-down arrangement.

The strength of the lyrics and her passion for them were undeniable during the performance, leaving the audience once again impressed with Lambert’s grace, style, and of course, talent.

Lambert was also nominated for a CMA Award for Female Vocalist of the Year at the 50th annual CMAs. Her upcoming double-album featuring “Vice,” titled The Weight of These Wings, is slated for release Nov. 18.
