Denny’s Closing More Locations Nationwide, Is Louisiana Affected?
I LOVE breakfast! It’s the best meal of the day, hands down. Just picture it: you walk into a cozy diner, the smell of fresh coffee fills the air, and you hear the sizzle of bacon on the griddle. You sit down, grab a menu, and there it is—fluffy pancakes stacked high, buttery biscuits, and perfectly scrambled eggs. Absolute perfection!
But what if your favorite breakfast spot was in danger of closing? Well, if you’re a breakfast fan, you might want to sit down for this one.
A few months ago, we reported that a popular breakfast spot was going to be closing 150+ locations across the United States. Well, now it looks like that number is going to be growing...
Denny’s recently announced that it will be closing even more locations than originally planned. Last year, the popular breakfast chain said it would shut down about 150 restaurants, but that number has climbed even higher. In a recent earnings report, the company revealed that it closed 88 locations in 2024 and plans to close between 70 and 90 more in 2025. That could bring the total number of closures to around 180!
So, what’s behind these closures? According to Denny’s, some locations are shutting down due to expiring leases, while others have been open for over 30 years and are just too expensive to remodel. Some are simply not making enough money to stay open.
They have actually been remodeling some of the Denny's across the country. Per the company, Denny’s locations that got a makeover saw a 6.5% increase in traffic last year. The problem? Only 23 locations were renovated in 2024—just a tiny fraction of the 1,300 restaurants they have across the U.S.
Like many restaurants, Denny’s has struggled with inflation and rising food costs. While sales were strong at the end of 2024, things took a dive in January and February.
With all these challenges, Denny’s stock has taken a major hit, dropping nearly 25% in one day and almost 50% over the past year.
ARE LOUISIANA DENNY'S LOCATIONS CLOSING?
Now, the big question: Is Louisiana in danger of losing any Denny’s locations? Unfortunately, the company hasn’t released a full list of which restaurants are closing, so we don’t know just yet. But if you’re a fan of those famous Grand Slams, you might want to visit your local Denny’s while you still can—just in case!
What do you think about the closures? Would you miss Denny’s if it shut down near you? Let us know!
