I LOVE Breakfast! It is my favorite meal of the day. Imagine walking into a cozy breakfast restaurant, where the smell of freshly brewed coffee fills the air, and the sound of sizzling bacon greets you at the door. As you sit down, a friendly server brings over a menu packed with delicious options—from fluffy pancakes stacked high to buttery biscuits and perfectly scrambled eggs. PERFECTION!
Well, it looks like a local favorite might be closing one of its nearby locations near you. Are our locations here in Louisiana safe? Here's what we know...
According to USA Today, Denny’s executives shared the plan during a recent earnings call. They said 50 of the least profitable restaurants will close by the end of 2024, with another 100 shutting down in 2025. The company is focusing on closing older locations that are too costly to remodel or in places where the restaurant isn't making enough money.
Even though Denny’s is shutting down some locations, the company says it’s preparing for future growth. These closures are meant to help clean up its portfolio and focus on stronger, more profitable restaurants.
According to a report from USA Today, Denny’s shares dropped nearly 18% after missing its quarterly earnings estimates. The company’s stock is down 50% for the year.
ARE LOUISIANA LOCATIONS SAFE?
Denny's has not yet released a list of which specific locations will be closing. There are currently 1,358 Denny’s restaurants in the U.S., with many located in states like California, Texas, and Florida. Louisiana does have several Denny’s locations, but it's unclear if any of them will be impacted by the closures.
For now, Denny’s fans in Louisiana will have to wait and see if any local locations will be on the chopping block. Keep an eye out for announcements about which locations are set to close. While some restaurants may be going away, Denny’s is still planning to keep its most successful spots open and serve up breakfast favorites.
