SUMMER 4-1-1: Golf Camp Fun “FORE” Kids

For one week in June, July and August , Derek Smith will be hosting the 2012 Summer Junior Golf Camp at Mallard Cove Golf Course.

"To the kids, if they can connect with the ball, they feel like they really did something special," said Smith. "It's a game for a lifetime, it's something you can do and enjoy until you take your last breath. There are so many reasons for parents to bring their kids to golf camp. I don't know. I just try to make it fun."

Each week the golf camp ends with a tournament between the campers.

"Everybody does their golf camps differently," said Smith PGA "When I learned golf I was 7 years old. I picked up the game and saw the fun and the competition in it. Golf camp can be one way to learn a good fundamental golf swing, but my camp is really all about fun."

Campers without equipment, Smith said, will be supplied with the proper golf gear in order to participate in the camp.

The first week is set to tee-off Monday June 11 at 8 a.m.

The last day for payment/ registration will be Friday June 8th.
However, the camps are limited to the first 20 paid campers.

Lake Area kids--who are ages 7 to 13 years old-- can take a swing at golf this Summer while being taught by a PGA golf professional.
