SWLA Football Week 7: District Standings and Schedule

Lake Charles, Louisiana - Believe it or not, the high school football season is heading into the back stretch. We're gearing up for Week Seven here in Southwest Louisiana, and we're looking at this week's schedule and where everyone stands in the district races heading into Thursday and Friday night.

It has been one heck of a start to the season for a few Southwest Louisiana teams. Four local teams still remain unbeaten: Barbe, Rosepine, Vinton, and Lake Arthur.

Last Time They Were (At Least) 6-0?

Barbe - 2008 (Started 12-0)
Rosepine - 2018 (10-0)
Lake Arthur - 1994
Vinton - 1998 (started 9-0)

It has been more than just the unbeaten teams that have been getting it done this year. Lake Charles College Prep, Leesville, and Elton are also off to nice starts with just one blemish on the schedule.

Here's Who's Been Getting It Done This Year

Football is a team game, but it also begins with individual efforts too, and this year there have been a few really impressive seasons.

Rosepine's Brynnum Chaney has been dominant this season, rushing for 975 yards and 19 Touchdowns. For Barbe, it has been a host of guys getting it done, but it starts with Jordin Griffin. Griffin has rushed for 981 yards and 16 Touchdowns. Elton's Makelin Lemoine continues to put up unbelievable numbers; he's rushed for 1,205 yards and 16 Touchdowns. For the Vinton Lions, they have been able to get it done with a host of rushers; Michael Lange, Jaydin Smith, Traylen Carrier, and Mika Roper have all run for at least 300 yards.
