"Shrink" or retail theft at Target stores nearly increased between 2019 and 2022. In 2023, organized retail crime in particular caused Target stores' yearly profits to drop by around $500 million.

Top 10 Items Stolen From Louisiana Target Stores

Although Target may offer the best markdown, Financebuzz.com claims that this well-known retailer also carries a number of things that are popular for theft.

10. Tiny Toys
You are well aware that some of those brands require a modest loan to be purchased if you have ever browsed the toy section and looked at the prices. Additionally, the smaller toys make it more attractive to steal them covertly and leave the store.

9. Blades of Razors
Because of the high frequency of thefts involving razor blades, several establishments are now seizing them and locking them up. Like the toys, they are compact, concealable, and simple to take with you as you leave the store.

8. Electronic devices
Children frequently misplace their AirPods! They readily slide out of your pocket because they are so little. Occasionally, both adults and children are simply going around with those in their ears. Imagine how simple it would be to slip those into your pocket or insert them into your ear as though they were meant to be there, but you took them instead.

7. Meat
While it may not be your style to stroll out of a store with a ribeye down your trousers, many individuals do just that. The rising cost of meat is another item that shoplifters are becoming interested in.

6. Pinter Ink
It always seems like the worst times are when printer ink runs out! And it's pretty expensive. For a thief, small and costly make the ideal combination.

5. Cosmetics
You currently have lipstick, lip gloss, pressed powder, and possibly a tiny bit of eyeshadow or eyeliner in your purse. You know that criminals have a few in their bags that they didn't pay for if it fits in your purse presently.

4. Infant Formula
Do you recall our last formula shortage? At that time, there were restrictions on the amount that could be bought, and some places even kept formula in a locked cabinet.

3. Socks
I thought I had misplaced the socks I had left out for the day just the other day. No, I discovered them later at work; they were in my pocket. The thieves perform the same thing, but before leaving the store, they purposefully placed the socks on the shelf in their pocket.

2. Drugs
Small bottles of over-the-counter drugs, such as Zyrtec and Tylenol, make them easy to smuggle out of a store.

1. Clothes Items
Although fitting rooms are essential, they are also an ideal place for stealing to begin. Shoplifters simply place their "new" garments underneath the ones they wore into the store while trying on clothing.

This is a pretty impressive list of Items that are stolen, so the next time you are having to wait for an employee to come and unlock a case or even take the security device off of your pants, thank a thief.
