The Sulphur/Barbe Rivalry Continues on the Baseball Diamond Tonight!
In case you haven’t already heard, there is a BIG game going on in Sulphur later this afternoon. It is so big that it is even being shown live on Cox Sports - Suddenlink Channel 57. The Sulphur Tors are currently the #1 ranked team in 3-5A baseball with a 24-1 record and 6-1 in the district. The # 6 Barbe Bucs have a 20-7 record and are 4-3 in districts.
Sulphur and Barbe have always had a rivalry in the High School sports world and today’s game will be no exception. According to the Southwest Daily News if Sulphur wins tonight it will be the first time they will have swept Barbe in a season since 1991, when the Tors won their first ever district championship. The Tors beat Barbe 6-1 earlier this season on March 24 in the district opener, and the Bucs are going to do their best to keep that from happening again.
The game starts tonight at 6:30 at McMurry Park in Sulphur. I encourage everyone to go out and cheer your team on. And don’t forget, if you can’t make the game you have the opportunity to tune in on Cox Sports channel 57 on Suddenlink.
Good Luck to both teams!
