Townsley Law Firm Purchases Naming Rights to McNeese Basketball Arena
Lake Charles, Louisiana (KNGT-FM) - A new era of McNeese Basketball is bringing change both on and off the court. On Tuesday, McNeese Athletics Director Heath Schroyer officially announced that Townsley Law Firm has purchased the naming rights to the Legacy Center, marking a major milestone for the program’s future.
This naming rights deal comes less than six months after Ryan Navarre purchased the naming rights to Cowboy Stadium, renaming it Navarre Stadium through a 10-year, $5 million agreement.
Just last week, McNeese Athletics announced a corporate partnership with Boudreaux's New Drug Store, securing two court-side logo placements in a deal valued at $1.25 million.
Between both of those deals and the recently announced Townsley Law Arena deal, McNeese Athletics has raised $11 million over the span of the last 3 months.
"A monumental day in a lot of ways," says Athletics Director Heath Schroyer outside of the arena during the official announcement on Tuesday Morning.
Townsley Law Firm Purchases Naming Rights To Legacy Center
The arena, formerly known as the Legacy Center, will soon carry a new name under the multi-year partnership. This move reflects a growing trend in college athletics, where naming rights deals have become an important way to generate extra revenue to support programs and student-athletes.
The deal between the Townsley Law Firm and McNeese is for 15 years for $4.5 million.
Across the country, colleges have turned to naming rights to keep up with the increasing financial demands of modern college sports. The trend took off in 2015 when the University of Washington struck a high-profile deal with Alaska Airlines for its football stadium. Since then, major programs like Kentucky, USC, Florida Atlantic, and the University of New Mexico have followed suit.
For McNeese, this partnership with Townsley Law Firm is more than just a new name on the building. It’s a way to bring in additional funds, create new opportunities, and help level the playing field with larger universities. Revenue from these kinds of deals helps support facility upgrades, athletic programs, and initiatives that benefit both players and fans.
