Watering Restrictions Now In Effect In Sulphur
The forecast doesn't show much chance of rain over the next week, and your lawn and garden are probably in serious need of some heavy watering. However, if you live in the city of Sulphur, remember that you can only use your sprinkler systems on certain days at certain times from now through September.
As set forth by city ordinance:
• Odd-numbered addresses water on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
• Even-numbered addresses water on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
• The designated time for lawn watering is from midnight to 2:00 p.m.
• There is no watering on Monday, however, exceptions are allowed for hand-watering, newly planted sod, landscaping & ground cover (30 day exemption) and businesses that require water to operate, such as plant nurseries and commercial car washes.
If you choose to disobey the rules, understand that they aren't just suggestions: it's the law. As such, the penalty is a fine you will pay depending on how many times you violate it. The list of those fines is available below.
The City of Sulphur understands that all residents want to have nice yards and want to maintain landscaping, even during dry times. They have kindly put together a list of suggestions for helping you make sure to keep your grass green and your flowers blooming.
