Meagan Crews, Miss Louisiana 2019, is stepping down and will relinquish her crown.

The Miss Louisiana Organization will crown the new Miss Louisiana 2020 on June 16 without a pageant. How can that happen? I was wondering the same thing.

In May, the Miss America Organization announced it was canceling their 2020 national competition. Some winning queens renewed their contracts for another year.

Meagan Crews is one of a few queens who have chosen not to remain in their position. She will hand over her crown in a ceremony at the W.L. "Jack" Howard Theatre Lobby in the Monroe Civic Center. Crews will continue her studies at the University of Louisville in Kentucky.

Since there are no pageant competitions this year, the crown will be passed to the 2019 runner-up, Courtney Hammons, as she will become the new Miss Louisiana 2020.
