KNGT | Lake Charles, LA — I will always remember exactly where I Was on 9/11. 2026 marks the 25th years since the September 11th terrorist attacks. Twenty-five years. Its so hard to think it has been that long.

Every year when September 11th rolls around, I like to think back on that day. I think back to a time in my life that I thought was simpler. I think about where I was, what I was doing and how within a few hours the world changed.

Where Were You, When The World Stopped Turning?

I was a fresh graduate of Sulphur High in 2001. After graduation I was still trying to figure out life.

I Was Working at a Feed Store in Sulphur. A few weeks after graduating, I started working at Fletcher's Feed Store in Sulphur, Louisiana. On the morning of September 11th, I was working back in the feed room. No TV, No social media...Just that old tape deck radio with 2 speakers spilling out history as it unfolded. And that radio became our connection to what was happening hundreds of miles away.

We Heard the 9/11 Attacks Unfold on the Radio. I can still remember listening as the first reports started coming across. "A plane had hit the World Trade Center in New York City". I can remember saying, "what the hell did they just say" thinking that had to be a joke.

Then another plane hit the second tower. Wait a second thats no accident. America was under attack. Reports kept coming. The Pentagon had been hit. Another plane had crashed in Pennsylvania.

Standing there in that feed room in Sulphur, listening to an old radio, it felt like the entire world had suddenly changed. And in a lot of ways, it had. I Remember Wondering What Would Happen Next. I remember being scared.

But one thing I remember most was wondering...who would do this. When you are that young, I know for me I had never experienced Evil at that level. Is this the real world we live in?

25 Years Later, I Still Haven't Forgotten. There are days in your life that slowly fade from your memory. September 11th, 2001 isn't one of them. I can close my eyes and still picture that feed room,I can still remember that radio. I can still remember my fear and I also remember what happened next.

People came together. Neighbors helped neighbors. Strangers helped strangers. First responders ran toward danger while everyone else was trying to get away from it. Americans put aside a lot of the things that divided us and simply helped each other.

Its crazy to think there is a whole generation now that learned about this in a history book, but I was around to live it. That's one reason I keep sharing my story every year. Just a 19-year-old kid from Sulphur standing in a feed room listening to an old radio.

God Bless those who lost their lives that day. So today, I hope we all take a minute to remember. Remember where you were. Remember the lives lost. Remember the heroes. And remember how we treated one another in the days that followed.

God Bless America. God Bless our troops and first responders. And may we never forget September 11th, 2001.
