Sabine Parish Police Jury has ordered all vacation rental properties to shut down. The jury passed the order that will begin tomorrow, April 2, 2020. It includes rental properties for vacationing, bed and breakfasts, cabins, or anything considered public lodging.

According to the order, this does not include 30-day renting, renting to essential workers, or military performing duties. Any violators caught renting after April 2 will be fined $500 and possibly have their rental license revoked. The jury lists a few reasons why they must enforce this new restriction. One of the main reasons is that the parish does not have the hospital capacity to handle cases in the event of an outbreak in the area.
