BBB Warns: Computer Scam Targets Local Consumers

Carmen Million at the Lake Charles BBB sent us notice of another phone scam that's going around. This time the caller claims to be from McAfee or Norton.

They try to use a scare tactic to gain control to a consumer's computer. They tell you that a virus has been detected on your computer and they tell you to open up your computer and give you instructions to get rid of your virus. Usually if you start asking questions, the scammer will hang up. The BBB suggests you go through your service provider directly if you suspect a virus and don't trust odd calls.When in doubt contact your BBB at 337-478-6513.
