Buddy Russ Visits Mike Soileau Almost A Year After He Passed Away
So I am not a superstitious guy but I do believe in certain things. I wanted to share this story with you and you may think I may be crazy while some of you may confirm that I am not.
So here is the story,
Almost a year ago, I was in Galveston, Texas with my buddies from high school and our wives. We try and do a trip once a year to catch up with each other. We have all been friends for nearly 35 years. so we try to stay in touch by taking a trip once a year.
Last year, when we arrived in Galveston we went to a Mexican restaurant in Galveston to have lunch. While sitting at the table, I got a call I didn't want to receive. I answered the phone and all I heard was "Russ Is Gone". I was in shock. Russ who not only was my co-worker at the radio station but also one of my best friends, had died from stage four bone cancer.
Even though I knew that it was coming, are you ever really prepared to hear the news? NEVER. We left the restaurant and headed back to the house we had rented for the weekend. After talking to Mr. Dave, Russ's dad, and getting off the phone, I walked into the backyard of the house.
That is where I saw a black butterfly with gold dots on its wings. If you knew Russ, his favorite color was gold and loved to splash it with black. The butterfly kept following me around in the backyard no matter where I moved to and even landed on me.
Fast forward to last weekend, almost one year since Russ died and we were in Galveston with my high school buddies for another weekend getaway with the wives. We ended up at the same Mexican restaurant we were at last year when Russ came back to visit me.
I was sitting out front of the SAME restaurant when I saw a black butterfly with gold accents on the wings (Pictured Above) again which immediately made me think of Russ and what happened last year. I was like I need to Google this and find out what this means.
I looked it up and it says when a butterfly comes by you it represents change and transformation, comfort, hope, and positivity. It went on to say that it is believed that family and friends who have passed communicate through butterflies. Insert chills here.
I sure do miss my friend and last weekend I am so glad that Russ decided to come back to say hi to me at the very same restaurant I was at a year ago when I found out he passed. I now know, he is watching over me always. Love you brother.
