Cajun Easter Menu Ideas SWLA Families Should Try This Sunday
🐊 KNGT 🐊 | Louisiana — Easter Sunday is right around the corner, and if you’re like most folks here in Southwest Louisiana, you’re already thinking about one thing… what’s gonna be on that table?
Now let’s be honest. Around here, a lotta families are firing up a crawfish boil. That’s just how we do it. But over in New Orleans, things have traditionally looked a little different. More of a sit-down meal. Plates full. Family gathered tight. Nobody in a rush.
I ran across a piece from CreoleCajunChef.com that kinda brings both worlds together. It’s got that classic feel, but still packs that Cajun punch we all love.
What do Cajun's Cook for Easter?
Here’s what they’re saying should be on your Easter menu this year:
First up, you gotta have something to snack on while everybody’s standing around the kitchen talking and laughing. Im gonna be honest, I love deviled eggs, but I had no idea this was even an option.
For the main dish, they’re switching it up from what mawmaw used to cook, that good ole Pork Roast. Instead, they recommend an Orange-Glazed Pork Loin....Im not sure I can get behind this. They say its the kind of dish that makes folks go back for seconds before they even finish their first plate.
And don’t forget dessert. You can’t end Easter without something sweet. On this list, it’s a Sour Cream Cake. Old school. Simple. Like the eggs I have never heard of this type of Cake, am I the only one?
Now look… nobody’s saying you gotta skip the crawfish. Not a chance. We normally do that for Good Friday. But if you’re wanting to mix it up a little this year, maybe try out something new.
At the end of the day, it ain’t really about what’s on the plate anyway. It’s about who’s sitting around it. Family, friends, a full table, and maybe a nap coming right after.
That’s a Cajun Easter done right.
