KNGT | Lake Charles, LA — Alright y’all… welcome back to another Cajun Weekend Weather Report, and Mother Nature has apparently decided we need a little bit of EVERYTHING this weekend. Heat. Humidity. Clouds. Thunderstorms. Sunshine. Basically, just pack the whole truck.

According to AccuWeather, Southwest Louisiana is looking at another classic late-August weekend. We’ll have highs in the lower 90s all three days, thunderstorms hanging around, and RealFeel temperatures climbing back above 100 degrees.

So yeah… keep the umbrella close. But don't put the sunscreen away either.

Keep the Umbrella and Ice Chest Ready, SWLA Is Getting a Little Bit of Everything

Friday
Friday, well we start the weekend with a high around 91 degrees and a 70% chance of rain. AccuWeather is calling for mostly cloudy skies with a thunderstorm around during the day. The clouds should help keep that RealFeel temperature around 98 degrees. And yes, we've reached the point in a Louisiana summer where I'm calling 98 degrees "good news." If you've got Friday night plans, don't cancel anything just yet. Just keep an eye on the radar and have a backup plan if a thunderstorm decides to crash the party.

Saturday
Saturday turns the heat right back up. We heating up to around 93 degrees, only a 55% chance of rain. Be on the lookout for some of those popup storms in the evening hours. The bigger story Saturday is gonna be the heat. That RealFeel could reach 102 degrees, So if you're gonna be outside Saturday, you know the drill. Sunscreen. Water. Shade. And an extra bag of ice for the cooler. Actually, make it two. It's the last weekend of August. We ain't gonna start getting cheap with the ice now.

Sunday
Sunday keeps the party going with a high around 92 degrees and another 55% chance of rain. We'll have partly sunny skies with a thunderstorm possible in parts of the area during the afternoon. But here's the number that caught my attention. The RealFeel could hit 105 degrees. Good Lord. That's "don't touch the metal seat belt buckle" weather. That's "your steering wheel needs oven mitts" weather. That's "I'll just cut the grass next weekend" weather.

If you've got outdoor plans Sunday, get outside early if you can. By afternoon, you're gonna be dealing with that heat AND watching the sky for thunderstorms.

Here's Your Weekend Game Plan

Friday: Cloudy, a good chance of storms, and a little break from the worst heat.
Saturday: Hotter with sunshine and a possible afternoon thunderstorm.
Sunday: Hot, humid, and a RealFeel around 105 with another chance of storms.

Bottom line? Don't cancel the weekend. Just be ready for Louisiana to do Louisiana things. Keep the umbrella in the truck. Keep the cooler full. Keep the sunscreen handy. And keep checking the sky because the weather at your house might be completely different from what's happening five miles down the road.

That's your Cajun Weekend Weather Report. We ain't just telling y'all what the weather's doing. We're helping you survive another Southwest Louisiana summer one sweaty weekend at a time. And if you're waiting on that first little taste of fall...Yeah...Keep waiting.
